Ryan Johnson, Esq., FIP

Founder and Principal Attorney

Ryan brings a perspective shaped by years of serving not only as outside counsel, but also as a senior in-house legal and privacy executive responsible for navigating these issues from within complex organizations. He is triple-certified by the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP), reflecting a depth of experience across privacy law, privacy program management, and the operational realities of data governance.

Ryan counsels organizations on data privacy compliance, cybersecurity and incident response, AI governance, technology transactions, regulatory risk, and the development of practical compliance programs. His work frequently involves translating rapidly evolving legal requirements into strategies that executives, product teams, security professionals, and boards can actually implement.

His experience spans emerging technology companies, established enterprises, highly regulated environments, and organizations navigating some of their most consequential legal and operational decisions. He has advised on matters ranging from complex privacy frameworks and data security incidents to responsible AI deployment and enterprise-wide governance.

Ryan has also contributed to broader conversations surrounding technology policy and responsible innovation, including service on Arizona’s Governor-led AI Steering Committee and through speaking, teaching, and commentary on emerging privacy, cybersecurity, and AI issues.

At The Technology Law Group, clients receive sophisticated technology counsel without the unnecessary complexity or overhead of a traditional large-firm relationship.

The objective is straightforward: understand the business, identify the real risk, and develop a practical path forward.
